February was a full month of planning, convening, and investing in the spiritual lives of many.
STATE
On February 8th and 9th, we held our second annual “Accelerate Texas” gathering in Hico Texas. 40 selected leaders from across the state representing various churches, organizations, camps, and ministries met to help discuss how to reach and disciple students more quickly across a large state. Some of our presenters included Steven Robertson, Author of “Gen Z: The Aliens among us”, Greg Stier of Dare2Share, and Travis Deans from 9-month Mission trip. It was an incredible event and gave us a workable action plan to reach our state more quickly. (We will produce a full report for you to see included in next month’s newsletter.)
A summary of our plan includes convening state and regional strategy meetings to accelerate the gospelization of Texas. Our strategy involves leadership development through training, targeting diverse areas, promoting prayer initiatives, regional development through conferences and training opportunities, campus ministry resources, listening and learning through regional collaboration, and focusing on cultural change in education. It also emphasizes network expansion, widespread prayer initiatives, and collaboration with Movement DFW to develop strategic plans for the region.
NATIONAL
Plans were made in February to assist two church plants in Portland, Oregon, on the third week of June. I will lead a mission team of around 25 to help make a difference in a very dark place.
I also had a significant meeting with former atheist turned CRU leader, Marilyn Adamson. She has an incredible website called everyperson.com where she addresses the deep questions people are asking and sees 2500 come to Christ daily. Take a look at this site. (It’s great for the introvert who wants a way to share Christ. Just send them here!)
GLOBAL
The last week of February, our NNYM CEO, Randy Davis, came to Texas. He joined us at our Houston and DFW meetings with influential leaders such as Dr. Richard Ross and Billy Beacham. Movement DFW has joined with NXT Move global and will be used as one of three model cities (Nairobi and Perth are the others) for strategies across the world.
LOCAL
I love my church, Declaration in Spring. Both of our youth leaders came to Accelerate and were inspired to develop some new plans with our students. Also, I’m blessed to lead our Campus Missionaries student discipleship/leadership group. Check out the 9-month mission trip app (9MMT) stories, “Audrey’s story”. She’s one of our missionaries and leading well on her High School campus.
We appreciate all of your prayers over Carol as she has been healing from her surgery. She is doing very well, driving, and almost back to full strength.
