August/September Update
Dear Friends and Partners,
As always, thank you for your support and prayers. I couldn’t do this without you. God is at work and we’re praying for revival globally!
Texas and Beyond
Through Networking, I’ve had the privilege to meet some incredible new people, and also get to reconnect with longtime friends and ministry partners as well. We’ve added five key strategists and have identified four new Networks across the State. I was blessed to meet with Tara Bollinger-Oksuzler, Dallas Coordinator at School Partners USA, and Founder/Director of Inspire School Programs. She is working with key leaders in the DFW area to see sustainable campus ministries and seeing hundreds of students mentored.
Prayer-walking Frisco High School with the Eckert family for Claim Your Campus and Never the Same Ministries in Frisco, Texas, was a true blessing. We also were a part of GEN Z for JESUS, where 3800 students came to the Comerica Center for a great day of worship, testimony, and vision casting.
Our friends, Mance and Amanda Cutbirth are seeing great results with Pray Corpus Christi as schools are prayed for weekly and lives are being changed. Jeff Driskell hosted us at FBC Montgomery as Kevin Miles and I trained some key leaders locally, and from West Texas, in Jesus Focused Youth Ministry.
At Declaration Church, our mission team has been hard at work clarifying our values and mission distinctives. It’s been a great time working with such incredibly mission-minded people. I also met with local CRU leaders, Mark, and Jessica Wilson, who are doing a great job at campus ministry in Spring.
August wasn’t all work! We got to go to Galveston with our family and enjoy some great times together. We also enjoyed a fun lunch with Momoka Kojima, a college student from Japan visiting with Holly and Jason through Links International.
September is the month for “See You at the Pole”, which is held this year on September 28th. We’re getting word that participation will exceed our 2019 pre-covid numbers. Join me in praying for a huge turnout and great impact on our schools through the prayers of students, leaders, and their families. I’m working with a team of students from Declaration Church to lead SYATP at Grand Oaks High School in Spring. They are doing a great job planning and promoting the day. (Thanks Billy Beacham and SDM for providing resources!) Also, I look forward to speaking at an “After the Pole” rally in Hammond, Louisiana, on September 28th, and in Grandview, Texas, with Chambers Creek Baptist’s youth group.
My next-door neighbor, Barry Klempnauer, invited me to speak about SYATP at the Spring Baptist Men’s Prayer Breakfast. He serves as their executive pastor there, and 110 men joined us in the gym for some great food, worship, the Word, and prayer.
Ministry apps have been launched! The See You at the Pole and 9-Month Mission Trip apps have both launched, empowering students nationwide for ministry. The Claim Your Campus app should launch in the next week or so. We’re excited to see these tools in the hands of students and leaders.
INTERNATIONALLY
Movement DFW is doing ground-breaking work. At the end of the month, I will be one of 10 leaders (representing Movement DFW) hosting participants from 10 global regions at a gathering on September 27-30 at Dallas Baptist University, called The NOW Conversation, it will focus on turning around the trajectory of Christianity for the next generation! Pray for wisdom and insight for these 150 representatives from every region of the world. NOW stands for “Not on our Watch.” We’re collaborating with the Lausanne Movement, East West Ministries, American Bible Society, City Gospel Movement, and many other strategic groups to see a global revival.
Thank you all for partnering with me in this work in Texas and around the world.
